In 2021, the Kwara Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq launched a 10-year Agricultural Transformation Plan, designed to make Kwara food sufficient by 2030. The plan is to utilise the heavily untapped agricultural potentials in Kwara as a major instrument to stimulate economic growth, create massive decent jobs among youth and women, accelerate rural development and ensure food security in the state by 2030.The Kwara State 10-year Agricultural Transformation Plan was drafted by JR Farms Africa as a consulting partner to the Kwara Government. In 2023, the plan attracts French companies to invest in key projects in various sub-sectors of agribusiness in Kwara, in which two MoU agreements were signed between the Kwara State government, a French company, and French authorities in Ilorin, Kwara State. The first MOU agreement was between the Kwara State government and the French company BRLI tasked with conducting a EUR 500,000 feasibility study granted by the French authorities on the modernization of the livestock value chain in the Lata grazing reserve. The second MoU agreement is on formalizing the relocation of the Alliance Française Ilorin within the Innovation Hub, in which the Governor of Kwara offers a space of 120 m² that would enable the cultural and linguistic center to attract its public in modern classrooms and facilities. The Embassy of France and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also contribute to the relocation of the Alliance through an exceptional grant of €10,000, which complements the annual operating grant. Also, French authorities would implement a EUR 600,000 grant programme dedicated to the development of technical education of women in agriculture, in which the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) was chosen as a pilot training center. This partnership demonstrates the shared vision of giving younger generations access to quality education and skills that will enable them to thrive.#GodBlessNigeria#MayTinubuSucceed#MayAbdulRazaqSucceed

Arjan Koeslag Charting a Resilient Global Food Future: African-Based Solutions for Climate Change and Climate JusticeSecuring climate-resilient food systems is vital for Africa and global food security. Africa is pivotal in solving the worldwide climate change challenge, and investment in this continent is essential. To bridge the gap between ideas and real-world impact, five innovative strategies, rooted in science and innovation, are proposed.1. Innovation Competitions for Climate-Resilient Food: Nationwide innovation contests in Africa inspire creative solutions for food systems. Projects demonstrating practical applicability will be recognized and invested in2. Eco-Entrepreneurship Hubs: Establishing eco-entrepreneurship hubs in African universities and research centers nurtures food security initiatives. Collaboration with venture capitalists and eco-focused investors fuels innovation3. Partnerships with Climate-Affected Communities: Collaboration with climate-impacted communities creates a two-way learning process. Students and researchers work on practical solutions for immediate climate food-system challenges in Africa4. Climate-Resilient Food Fellowships: Specialized fellowships offer financial support, mentorship, and networking for projects targeting food security and climate change, driving innovations in AfricaWageningen Centre for Development Innovation is running the African Food Fellowship which is a guiding example of such kind of fellowship program. 5. Virtual Food Resilience Labs: A network of digital hubs connect students and researchers and provide real-time climate data and modeling tools across the continent. They encourage cross-border collaboration, fostering an ecosystem of learning and innovative solutions to tackle climate challengesAfrica is not the cause of climate change, yet it bears a disproportionate burden from its impacts. It's crucial to recognize that Africa is not only a victim but also a vital part of the solution to climate change. By embracing these measures, we aim to inspire fresh, collaborative efforts to secure climate-resilient food systems in Africa and, by extension, the world, emphasizing the need for investment in Africa's potential. Aliamdulilah🙏🏽 I am deeply grateful to Almighty Allah for the successful presentation in Innovation in New Product Development today, marking the completion of my coursework at Manchester Metropolitan University . During the presentation, I had the honour of presenting our highly sustainable product to a distinguished panel reminiscent of the Dragons' Den format, following the Ecotrophelia standards used in the United Kingdom. Their expertise and discerning feedback challenged me to excel and provided invaluable insights for my future endeavours.I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to my esteemed team members, Uchechukwu Agbapulonwu the production manager and Moshood Muyideen Olawale (MSc, B.Tech) MCSN, AISMN,MASQ the Business Development Manager. Their unwavering dedication, expertise, and collaboration were instrumental in bringing our project to fruition. We overcame challenges, harnessed our collective strengths, and achieved remarkable results. As I now set my sights on my dissertation, I am excited to delve deeper into food sustainability. Specifically, my research will focus on finding ways to reduce dairy products waste, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I am motivated to contribute towards a more sustainable future by addressing this pressing issue.Coming from Nigeria, where food production and agriculture sustainability often seems distant, I am keenly aware of the existing hurdles. As an experienced poultry farmer who is now delving into food Safety and sustainability, I understand my immense responsibility to contribute to sustainable practices. I pray to significantly contribute to these practices which are crucial for achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.So help me God🙏🏽 #agriculture #food #sustainability #innovation #research #collaboration

“The first aim of this conference is international cooperation. The second is a collaboration between education, research, and production by creating meaningful linkages and channels between academia and business, industry and the government. Government support is crucial that is why Astana Akimat (Mayor’s Office) is our partner in the organization of this mega conference. The third goal is when education goes beyond the boundaries of one state; this is internationalization not only in education but also in research and joint projects. Our International Conference on Food Safety and Food Quality has attracted the world’s top researchers and scientists. In fact, our conference is based on a new vision of national and global cooperation in education, research, and production.” Abisheva Rosa Dzhanysbekovna, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.#kazakhstan #KATRU #foodsafety #foodquality #science #research #internationalconference #university #academicaffairs #astana #RUDN #agriculture

Dear network,I just realised that I have been quite absent on LinkedIn, and because today was a special day for me... I thought to take some time to just briefly write down what I have been up to in the past years. After having graduated in 2020 from IFA in 's-Hertogenbosch, I had the great opportunity to work at Bloei & Groei alongside many wonderful ladies who poured out their hearts and souls for the establishment of healing gardens for women to unwind with other like-minded ladies in nature, and community gardens for neighbours to connect with each other in the avaible green space in their neighbourhood in Amsterdam South-East. Green and peaceful oases in a busy city for food, community wherein social connection is fostered, and so much more.In April of 2023, I travelled to Kenya for a period of 3 months, where I wwoof'ed / worked at various organic farms, explored the country (both the urban and rural areas) and just enjoyed all that the country has to offer. It was trully an exprience that I will never forget and glad to have embareked on it. Upon the return in the Netherlands, I went back to school and started last September with the master Resilient Farming and Food Systems (previously known as Organic Agriculture) at Wageningen University and Research. The past six months have been challenging, yet super exciting since I have been given the chance to learn more and more about (the challenges towards) sustainable transitions. I am currently following the subject 'Health, Food and Society', wherein we are looking at the relation between food, health and the wellbeing of the society from both the sociological and political point of view. Because of this course I have developed an interest in food systems within the urban context, so my head has been full with questions to ensuring access to food for city dwellers, especially on the African continent. So, in short what I have been doing up to. In case youhappen to have any lead, advice or just would like to (re-)connect, please, contact me as I am eager to grow, learn and expand my knowledge and network.#Kenya #WUR #transition #sustainability #foodsystems #sustainablefoodsystems #growth #happyleapday
