The C flat major has the 7 diatonic chords as in all other scales. The diatonic is formed by adding the stacks of two notes above each of the notes of the C flat major scale. The chords of the major scales have diverse fate in terms of the minor, major, or diminished chords.

According to rule the firth, the fourth and the fifth chords of the major scale are major chords. Also the second, sixth, and seventh are the minor chords. The seventh chord which is the Bflat, F flat, and G flat always happens to be a diminished chord in a C flat major scale.

The different chords of the major can be explained as follows:

  • The Cb major triplet has three notes where flats of C, E, and G are used, i.e. Cb, Eb, and Gb.
  • The second chord is the Db minor Chord which is the triplet of three notes in the C flat scale as Db, Fb, and Ab.
  • Eb is the third chord under the scale of Cb. The triplet used in the Chord is Eb, Gb, and Bb.
  • The fourth chord in this domain is Fb major, a major chord formed with the flat notes Fb, Ab, and Cb.
  • The Bg major chord is made from the other three notes in the C flat scale. The notes are Gb, Bb, and Db.
  • The triplet that makes the chord Ab from the C flat scale are the Ab, Cb, and Eb
  • The B diminished triplet can be Bb, F flat, and G flat.

The scale according to the convention has seven degrees in ascending order the degrees move from Degree 1 to 8. The degree one is always given to the Tonic of the scale. The second-degree position is given to the supertonic note. The supertonic note is one note above the Tonic and that is why the ‘super’ or prefix of above is added there. The third and sixth-degree are given to the mediant and the submediant which are the Eb or Eflat and the Ab or the A flat notes.

In the creation of music composers generally use the B major rather than the C flat major, because the C flat major has 7 flat notes which are more complex than usual.

C flat minor scale is also called the C flat natural minor scale that starts with a C natural note but this is a theoretical note and hard it is used in practice. Though there are certain aspects of the theoretical minor scale which are quite interesting. The difference between the C flat major and minor is that the minor uses a double sharp and a double flat note.

  1. The first note in the scale is C flat
  2. The second note is D flat.
  3. The third in c flat minor is Ebb
  4. The perfect fourth in this c flat scale is the Fb.
  5. The perfect fifth is Gb.
  6. The sixth note is Abb
  7. The seventh note is Bb
  8. Cb is again the perfect note which completes the theoretical scale.

In the C flat major scale guitar notes :

  • Place the middle finger on the third fret of the fourth string.
  • The first octave is played as 30230201. The 3 is the fret number to press on the fifth string.
  • On the fourth string 023, which means open, second fret, and fourth string.
  • 0 and 2 on the second string which means open and second fret on the third string.
  • On the second string 01 which means open and first fret.

Gradually the scale octaves are practiced by focusing on the sound of each note. Once the sound for each note is mastered, the tempo or speed for practicing the octave can be increased.
